REMEMBER: Fire never takes a summer vacation
June 17, 2010
(NC)—Whether you enjoy summer from the deck of your house, the balcony of your apartment or at a cottage, on a boat or RV, remember this: fire never takes a summer vacation.
Keep your family safe from fire and CO threats by checking your place of summer refuge to be sure you have the right alarms installed in all the right places and that they are fully powered. Remember too that fire professionals recommend that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fires that can occur.
Pay special attention to the 10/7 Replacement Rule: replace any smoke alarm over 10 years old and any CO alarm older than 5-7 years old, depending upon manufacturer. And, don't forget fire extinguishers for your watercraft. Check your local regulations for the size and ratings required for fire extinguishers depending upon the size and type of watercraft you operate.
