Fundraising

Fire departments from across Canada came together September 12&13 to raise funds and awareness for volunteer firefighters by participating in The Fire Within's third annual Heroes In the Sky event.

Along with a very successful weekend that raised nearly $200,000.00 for the participating fire departments, this event gave firefighters a chance to connect with the public, share some information on fire prevention, and have a lot of FUN!

Sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of money raised!

What a great program from The Fire Within!! It looks like this company makes fire department calendars and helps organize events like this. Fire departments then have a fun and unique community event where they sell the calendars. Then they use the proceeds to purchase materials such as colouring books that they give out to the kids in their community!

I would just like to say as the first Fire Department in Nova Scotia to take part in the Calendars we were very happy with the out come. We ordered 500 Calendars and sold all 500 in three different ways.

We held the Heroes in the Sky event which was a blast and thanks to the Canadian Tire Store on Spar Road in Sydney Nova Scotia for their great support and staff. We did as they say add a new firefighter to our department from the event and he was the DJ from the local radio station the Eagle 103.05 that slept with the firefighters on the roof over night. During the event we had music playing by local bands, we cut cars up with the Jaws of Life.

Everyone had a blast and we can't wait to do in again this year. But one of the amazing things was the support of the Fire Within people. Thre of them took the time to fly into Sydney to help us sell the Calendars at Canadian Tire and do a door to door sales. This topped it off for our guys, where do you get involved with a company and they come to your Province to help and teach you how to run and sell the Calendars.

These guys and girls are great and every Volunteer Fire Department should take part in this project because yes you raise money but what a lot of fun you can have. We seen guys get involved with the calendars that we haven't seen with other fundraisers we have had in the past. Great time to get your firefighters together for a weekend and meet the public plus draw the firefighters closer together than you have been in the past.

Thanks to The Fire Within and Staff!

I met the Fire Within guys at the BC Fire Chiefs convention and we discussed doing a Fire Prevention calendar. This would be totally customized with public education photos and fire safety tips etc.  It requires a large deposit to get it started to sponsors are definitely a must. Money raised would go towards improved fire prevention programs and materials.

PREVENTION CONNECTION has products tailor-made to help run successful public education campaigns! Lightpole banners displayed down a boulevard generate immediate public interest and awareness. Reward kits and smart card packs are designed to help make you better organized and presentable. Call Tracy 604-466-8805
